Make America Slim Again in Ireland: EU Rules and What You Pay
Ireland sits inside the EU regulatory system, which changes both what a seller may claim and what happens when a parcel arrives from outside the bloc. Both are worth knowing before ordering any supplement from a US seller.

Who regulates supplements in Ireland
Food supplements in Ireland are regulated as food, overseen by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) together with the Health Service Executive’s environmental health officers. The Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) becomes involved where a product crosses into being presented as a medicine.
Both operate inside EU law. Two pieces matter here:
- Directive 2002/46/EC on food supplements, which harmonises what may be sold and how it must be labelled.
- Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 on nutrition and health claims, which permits only claims on the EU authorised list.
As in Britain, most botanical claims across the EU were carried forward still awaiting final evaluation, so EU labels for herbal products describe the formula and how it is used rather than promise an outcome. That is how the claims system is drawn, and it applies to every botanical product on the market here.
The FSAI also operates a notification system for businesses placing food supplements on the Irish market. That process applies to sellers stocking here; a product you order directly from a US seller reaches you under personal import rules instead, which is the same route Irish buyers use for plenty of goods.
Customs and VAT on a non-EU order
This is the practical difference between ordering in Ireland and ordering in the United States, and it is larger than most people expect.
Since July 2021 the EU removed the VAT exemption for low-value consignments. Every commercial import into the EU is now subject to VAT regardless of value. In Ireland the standard VAT rate applies to most supplements, and above the customs duty threshold duty may apply as well.
| Charge | Applies to a US supplement order |
|---|---|
| Irish VAT | Yes, on all consignments. Either collected by the seller at checkout under the Import One-Stop Shop, or charged on delivery. |
| Customs duty | Above the duty threshold, depending on classification and origin. |
| An Post / courier handling fee | Commonly charged for clearing a parcel through customs. |
Those charges apply per consignment, which is the practical argument for the 180-day bundle at $294 USD: one set of charges across six months rather than three. Revenue publishes current thresholds and rates, so you can work the delivered figure out before you order.
The formula
A 550 mg proprietary blend per 2 mL serving, thirty servings per 60 mL bottle. The eleven declared components are raspberry seed, raw wildflower honey, bee pollen, sodium alginate, royal jelly, kudzu root extract (40% isoflavones), bee propolis extract, holy basil extract (2.5% ursolic acid), purple carrot powder, olive leaf extract (20% oleuropein) and berberine hydrochloride.
The whole 550 mg arrives as two millilitres a day — straight from the dropper or in water — with the key extracts standardised on the label so you can see their strength.
One EU-specific note: novel food rules under Regulation (EU) 2015/2283 require that ingredients without a significant history of consumption in the EU before May 1997 be authorised before sale. Most of these components sit comfortably on the familiar side of that line — honey, bee pollen, propolis, olive leaf and raspberry have a long European food history.
Before you order: a two-minute check
Talk to your GP or pharmacist first if any of these apply
- Bee, bee-sting or pollen allergy, or asthma — the blend contains four hive products, and anaphylaxis to royal jelly, propolis and bee pollen is documented
- Any regular prescription medicine — berberine inhibits enzymes that metabolise many drugs
- Diabetes medication — several components lower blood glucose
- Hormone-sensitive conditions or tamoxifen — kudzu isoflavones are phytoestrogens
- Blood pressure medication
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Irish community pharmacists are readily accessible and this ingredient list is worth running past one. Clear on that, the routine is straightforward: one dropper a day, thirty servings to a bottle, sixty days in the smaller bundle and six months in the larger. Our weight management guide covers the everyday basics the drops are designed to sit alongside.
Make America Slim Again is a food supplement, not a medicine. It does not replace treatment your doctor has prescribed, and you should not stop prescribed medicine in order to take it. If you have symptoms that worry you, see your GP.

What buyers say about Make America Slim Again
★★★★★
The dropper makes it easy to be exact, and it goes straight into my morning coffee. No capsules to swallow, which was the main reason I picked it.
★★★★☆
Neutral taste in juice and the bottle lasts a full month at the stated serving. Delivery to Ireland took about a week.
★★★★★
Simple to fit into a routine — two millilitres, once a day, done. The bundle price per bottle was noticeably better than buying singly.
